Oakland Business Forum - Helping Michigan Businesses Succeed and 30 Seconds to Fame

As many of you know, I actively participate in the entrepreneur community here where I live in Metro Detroit.

The monthly meeting of the Oakland Business Forum is a big part of my activity and our most recent meeting this past Tuesday was absolutely fantastic. Entrepreneurs from across the region showed up to learn, network, build their businesses and grow.

Arthur “Bud” Liebler of Liebler-MacDonald Communication Strategies was the keynote speaker for the evening and gave an engaging and informative keynote address about how he sees the Michigan Economy turning around and the role the entrepreneurs will play.

The”Entrepreneur of Honor” for the evening, a local entrepreneur selected to showcase their businesses, was John Rohrbeck, owner of Tax and Financial Strategies. John shared with the audience his story of building a successful business after spending 30 years working in corporate America.

Back by popular demand was “30 seconds to fame,” the extreme business networking segment of the meeting. 5 attendees were selected to advertise their products and services in front of the room and also for the video camera. Check out the March 2008 Oakland Business Forum 30 seconds to fame below!

The Oakland Business Forum - Helping Businesses Succeed!

The Oakland Business Forum had its second meeting this past Tuesday at the Northfield Hilton in Troy, MI.

Business owners and professionals turned out in droves to hear keynote speaker Josh Linker, CEO of ePrize. ePrize is a fast growing dynamic interactive online promotion business that is based in Pleasant Ridge, Michigan.

Josh gave a fantastic presentation on what it takes to build a successful 21st century business. He talked about “The Power of e” and captivated the audience of rising stars in business and up and coming business professionals.

After Josh Linker’s presentation, Ben Rosenzweig of Next Step Analytics presented his business to the audience and demonstrated that great new businesses are starting in Michigan, even amidst the storm of negative media attention.

The Oakland Business Forum “30 Seconds to Fame” was a smashing success. 5 entrepreneurs and business professionals from the audience got the opportunity to present their “elevator” pitch to the audience and video camera. You can see 30 seconds to fame here:

Oakland Business Forum Kicks Off With Smashing Success

Last night, The Oakland Business Forum got off to a roaring start! Everyone that was there got heavy doses of great information from our keynote speakers, Terry Bean and Charlie Wollborg, contacts to build their businesses and fresh perspective on why it is a great time to be doing business in Michigan.

The Oakland Business Forum was founded with a vision to bring the collective knowledge and shared experience of entrepreneurs, investors and prospective entrepreneurs together for mutual gain. Each month, The Oakland Business Forum will feature the following:

- a DYNAMIC keynote speaker
- the “entrepreneur of honor” - a local entrepreneur who presents their business to the audience
- “30 seconds to fame” - entrepreneurs and professionals from the audience get to “ask” what they are looking for in their business to take it to the next level - in front of everyone

Our first meeting yesterday was a smashing success! Thank to you all who came out to build your business or to figure out what you can do to get started in business. If you could not attend last night’s meeting, here is glimpse:
